CASA VIDA
CASA VIDA is a life project of the owner who always wanted to live in the countryside, where he could create subsistence agricultural production and a more sustainable lifestyle.
Having as a starting point the existing ruin, this project in a rural context was about the recovery, alteration and enlargement of this same ruin.
The project was developed on three different levels in order to respect the topographic conditions of steep slope, integrating into the surrounding countryside scenery.
These topographic conditions contributed to the total volumetry being comprised of three main coupled volumes that refer to the concept of the Algarve ‘hill’ characterized by the articulation of several elements (e.g.: owner’s house, caretaker’s house, agricultural facilities, etc.) that merge into a unitary set constituting, with the surrounding landscape, an architectural universe.
Framed in the concept of an architecture of rural expression, because one of the three volumes presents a mixed roofing divided between roof terrace and roof, characteristic from the center of the Algarve and the leeward.
